The Christian Service Mission is about connecting resources with needs to build relational partnerships to see communities thrive. For 50 years, CSM has served Birmingham and its surrounding communities. We serve primarily through housing rehabilitation, volunteer mobilization, food distribution, and organizing and distributing resources. We do all this within partnerships and currently, work with more than 150 locally and ten nationally during disasters.
We pray, and the Lord provides, and we believe in living out the principles of scripture, one of which is to be a good steward of what God has brought to us. We do this with the items that come in and the property where we work. Luke 6:38 says: “Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure- pressed down- shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap,” and we have witnessed this over and over during the ten years that I have been here. September is our 50th anniversary, and we want to share what the Lord has brought in with our partners and bless the families we work with and those in their care. Through our partnership with Good360, we have received more than $300,000 worth of new items currently sold on Amazon, and we believe these items will bring joy to those who receive them.
Our vision is to see our communities thrive with Christ at the center of our lives. Our city needs to see us, Christians, as One. Over the past decade, we have brought churches and leaders together who typically have nothing else in common but Christ. We build strong relationships around the gospel of Christ, bringing ONE CHURCH to the city. John 13:35 says: Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” We are commanded to be disciple-makers, and we are doing our part at CSM to bring pastors and leaders together to break down those walls that divide us to be ONE. We believe that we can be unified and become One Birmingham.
At 50 years of age, we benefit from learning from our past and having a solid vision for the future. We exist to serve the least of these and have faithfully served thousands throughout the years. Today, we want to use our position of influence to provide a more significant impact on ministries, where the gospel is at the center. The future is bright because we have a strong legacy of leadership, deep relationships with partner churches, all who are working for Christ to be at Birmingham’s center.
