Meet Dawn Hinkle!

Dawn Hinkle joined the CSM family about a month and a half ago. She and her husband, Dave, have been supporters and friends of CSM for many years. After watching our garden center lay fallow this past year while CSM looked for a qualified candidate, Dawn decided that she wanted to see how she could help.

A self-proclaimed garden novice, she decided to test Ecclesiastes 9:10, “whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might.” Several of our garden experts and volunteers advise her about what to do next and how to handle ongoing problems. Mainly, she brings a great attitude to problem-solving and enjoys learning how to grow food.

Since she’s been here, she and the garden team have planted bush beans, beets, and carrots. She’s excited to share fresh vegetables with our in-house partner, Grace’s Kitchen, by growing varieties for their meal preparations. She hopes to expand the gardens and make them an outreach ministry for others in the community who need fresh food.

Dawn is also a bus driver for the Trussville City Schools. She has a middle school route and a special needs route. For over 20 years, she’s worked with middle school students at Ponderosa Bible Camp in the arts and crafts area. She and Dave attend the Church of Brook Hills. She has three grown children, two grandchildren, and one grandchild on the way.
