We just completed the work at Ms. C’s home. She was in desperate need of a roof and some kitchen repairs. As our construction SWATT team was inside, they noticed she hadn’t touched the pot of hot coffee on her counter. They told her to sit down, relax, and drink her coffee while they worked, and she told them the coffee wasn’t for her; it was for them! These are the kinds of generous people we are serving. Even in their positions of need, they are living examples of service and generosity. We sincerely believe these homes are representations of more than a project, but instead of a person that God knows and loves. And through working on their home, we seek to know and love them. Part of that can look like slowing down to sip coffee with these homeowners and entering into a genuine relationship.

We also connected with True Vine Church to rebuild a ramp for their facility. Our SWATT construction team and volunteers from Brookwood Baptist partnered with guys from True Vine and spent a few weeks working together to complete the project. We love supporting True Vine, and it was so special to do something for them and do something with them! The heartbeat of all the construction projects we enter into is to form relationships, and this time was such an answer to prayer!

These were the last projects of 2023, but in 2024, we are embarking on more housing projects! There are so many needs in Birmingham, so please join us in asking the Lord to give us discernment and bring us who He would have us serve this new year! May He provide the workforce, funds, and wisdom to equip us with faithfulness.
