The past two weeks have been a whirlwind for our city, as we have gone through many stages of uncertainties, protocols, and shifting lifestyles.  In a time of so much chaos, the Church has an amazing opportunity to comfort, serve, and pray for the world.  CSM partner churches are doing just that through their service not only at CSM, but through live-streaming encouragement and sermons, making phone calls to families and individuals in need, and more.

In a time of so much chaos, the Church has an amazing opportunity to comfort, serve, and pray for the world.

Many church groups have served and are continuing to serve with CSM to sort, package, and deliver pantry boxes, freezer boxes, and snack bags. Just last week, churches all around the city were able to pick up hundreds of care packages to give to the needy in their communities.

We are seeing churches come together to serve as well as individuals jumping in to help, all for the sake of the Kingdom.  By connecting these resources to churches who have invested in their community and know their members’ needs, we can be sure the food and supplies are going to the right places.

Churches are also getting creative in how they reach and serve their communities. Here are just a few ways they are continuing to be connected:

  • The Rock City Church has put together a list of resources for kids and seniors for meals and activities while school is not in session. https://sites.google.com/therockcity.org/covid19resources/home

  • New Rising Star is helping members through their Credit Union and also live streaming sermons and Wednesday night bible studies https://www.beatme2thestar.net

  • Shades Mountain Baptist has put together many online resources for continued bible study and devotion for kids, teens, and adults: http://www.shades.org

  • Birmingham Bible is having Friday morning prayer calls and online streaming: https://www.bhambc.org

There are so many great opportunities happening in churches across the city that are not mentioned.  Let us all remember that we are part of a bigger Church.  Let us as a Church family live to the fullest of joy in hard circumstances and share the goodness of our God to those who need it.
