When Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeast, families in Tennessee were left picking up the pieces. Even today, countless homes are still damaged, lives are upended, and communities are still waiting for help to arrive.
This month, Christian Service Mission had the privilege of sending a team from Birmingham to serve those families. Our volunteer construction team, joined by a Birmingham pastor skilled in home repair, spent several days rebuilding homes and reminding weary homeowners that they are not forgotten.
What stood out most wasn’t just the work completed, but the spirit behind it. Each foundation repaired and sheetrock installed became a testimony of what happens when the Church comes together in unity. Because of how our Birmingham community served faithfully earlier this year, we were able to carry that same spirit of Oneness beyond city lines to bring restoration where it was needed most.
At CSM, we take stewardship seriously. Every hour served and every dollar given is prayed over and used with care. On this trip, we saw the Lord multiply both: volunteers using their skills to meet practical needs, and resources stretched to bless families still living in the aftermath of the storm.
This is what it looks like when the Church unites to restore what’s broken.
