CSM’s mission is to cultivate relational partnerships that grow unity amidst believers as One Body all over our city. We make a difference together when we live in the reality of our Oneness. We were so encouraged by having over 40 churches join together on September 15, 2024, to pray this together, “Lord, as Your Body, we pray together with one voice. Let Your love, a love that forgives, be shown in us and through us. May we be one as You are One. Amen.”
This was a unity prayer, prayed in remembrance of the four young girls who died in the tragic bombing at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church 61 years ago. Their Sunday School lesson was on a Love that Forgives. The Spirit unifies the Church, and we believe that being united in prayer is a practical way we engage our hearts with the work of God.
Our relationship with churches allows us to touch thousands of lives through the Church. We have seen the Church in Birmingham rise up and lead the Body in fasting and prayer. Community development is happening through God’s people, as pastors mobilize their people to bring change to the city. We participate in the work these churches are already doing to bring resources to them to further the impact of the Gospel in our city. The most significant agent of change is prayer, and in 2024, we have seen God’s uniting hand at work. We have seen countless prayers answered by God, and we are so thankful to see so many local churches coming into their contextual calling, living as God has designed the Body to, and being Spirit-led in bringing about change to our city.
As we move into the fall, we are excited to help churches accomplish their holiday outreaches. We will participate in over 100 outreach events to advance the Gospel in the lives of people in our city. These events are the result of the answered prayers of God’s people. Please join us in praying and uniting with CSM as we walk with churches in our city.
