On Saturday, August 18th, Ramsay High School welcomed over a hundred eager community volunteers to join the school’s efforts in cleaning their extensive campus grounds. Ramsay provides education for an estimated seven hundred and twenty-five students. However, their cleaning staff of only four hard-working individuals face the impossible task of campus upkeep. After an exciting victory over Briarwood High School Friday night, a group of servant-hearted football players showed up early the following day, eager to serve their school. Christian Service Mission partnered 46th Street Baptist Church with Shades Mountain Community to serve together Ramsay High School, and each church joyfully served their city while building friendships with their fellow community servants. Councilor Crystal N. Smitherman was present for the community effort, joining Christian Service Mission, 46th Street Church, Shades Mountain Community Church, the women of Delta Sigma Theta, Ramsay Student Government representatives, and various students and faculty. Principal Carolyn Walker rallied everyone with words of gratitude and instruction, then prayerfully released the excited volunteers armed with cleaning supplies. With determined and selfless spirits, the volunteers tackled their mission of disinfecting and cleaning classrooms, the gym, library, cafeteria, and other various spaces in less than three hours. The Ramsay High School cleaning day was a testament to the power of a community united in service to the Lord and neighbor, showing the broad impact that a display of love through action can make. A cornerstone for Christian Service Mission is prayer, which was intentionally woven into the day. From opening the day with prayers to praying over every classroom in small groups, the school was showered with prayer, and we trust that whatever work we began, God will carry through to completion. Let’s all pray for not just classroom transformation but soul transformation.
