Spotlight on the Junior Board
We recently updated our Junior Board. These are our current members: Zenobia Marshall, Wesley Wright, Dominique Belton, Jacquie Schaffers, Demitri Carpenter, William Patton, and Tate “the Machine” Hipps.
We surveyed each board member to get to know them a little better. We were curious about what each one does, where they go to church, why they are involved with Christian Service Mission and a few fun tidbits about who their favorite team is and what their favorite food is.
So, let’s learn a little about each member:
Zenobia D. Marshall works at the Social Security Administration and attends Living Stones Temple. She is most excited about “the relationships that [she’s] built over the years.” She loves that CSM serves and shares the Word and Jesus. Her favorite food is chicken and shrimp alfredo, and she pulls for Alabama and the Atlanta Falcons.
Wesley Wright works with Alys Stephens Center and The Regenerate Society, Inc. He connected with Tracy through his nonprofit Regenerate. He attends Refresh Family Church here in Birmingham and Fellowship of Faith Baptist in Huntsville. He’s most excited about “the behind-the-scenes work they do to support so many local ministries and connecting pastors to work together.” He loves pizza and follows the Knicks and the Cowboys.
Dominique R. Belton is a healthcare IT consultant and attends Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She says she sees “uplifting the community through the church” as CSM’s primary function! Her favorite food is tacos, and she pulls for the Detroit Red Wings. Dominique met Tracy through her church’s Global Impact Celebration.
Jacquie Schaffers works at Grantswood Community School and attends Redeemer Community Church. Her favorite team is Auburn, and her favorite food is popcorn. Her family was looking for a place to serve and then started volunteering at CSM during Thanksgiving many years ago. What she loves about CSM is “the way that Jesus is the foundation of everything [CSM does]. I love getting to know people and hearing their stories while serving alongside them.”
Demitri Carpenter works at Christ Health Center and attends Church of the Highlands. He met Tracy and fell in love with the mission. His favorite thing about CSM is how intentional we are in serving others. He says, “people trust CSM.” He is most excited about CSM’s future. He pulls for the Georgia Bulldogs and loves spaghetti!
William Patton works at John R. White Company and attends Mountain Brook Community Church. He loves Mediterranean food and supports Alabama football. He got connected through a service project here, and he loves the simplicity of our mission to connect resources with needs.
Tate, “The Machine,” Hipps is an independent freelance filmmaker and attends Arise Birmingham. He says he is most excited about CSM’s part in working toward oneness in the church and being an underground force to empower the local church. His favorite food is salmon. He says, “Gold Team Rules!”
The Junior Board creates connections and relationships between CSM and their networks. They are like missionaries, sharing how CSM works with their work and church communities. The Junior Board and our internship program help us connect to the next generations so that God’s mission for the gospel and CSM will advance into the future.
